Cossington in Bloom 2013

KJHw82fdqWfeyDgu2d1NuSq7-2M

5th October 2013

The Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, Councillor Peter Downing, presented the awards for this year's Cossington in Bloom Competitions organised by the Parish Council at Cossington Village Hall on Saturday, 5th October.

As usual there were four categories for the garden competitions namely Best Kept Garden, Most Colourful Garden, Best Hanging Basket and Best Small Garden. Each garden visible from the public highway is automatically entered and judges from another village or town tour the village and make their decisions during early July.

This year an exceptional effort was made by the residents of Park Crescent and it was no surprise that seven of the twelve awards went to people living there!

The Parish Council also sponsor a competition for pupils attending Cossington School and this year they made and decorated ducks and dragonflies using needlework skills. The standard of work was incredibly high and the judges found it very difficult to select prizewinners in each of the classes.

The Cudlipp Memorial Shield, awarded to the child who in the judges opinion had made a special effort in the competition, was presented to Elouise Teakle.
